Haha! I could *absolutely* be looking at the wrong stuff! Show me some good ones that inspire you guys! I could use the learnin’
If you’re looking to learn more about distinctive shapes, THIS BEAUTIFUL FUCKER is my favorite to look at. Clean, simple lines, a lot of attractive diversity, and best of all he puts the pictures next to the actual people so you can see his mental process.
ANYWAY, caricatures are awesome. It seriously boggles my mind that someone with such a lively, cartoony style never got into the beauty of the exaggerated human face! I mean, no matter how crazy the stuff you study, you can always work simpler.
Totally. This is why I figured I’d ask people on the internet, you know? Someone would have an idea of which direction to go in. I’ll be honest, sometimes REALLY BIG THINGS will elude me for long periods of time until someone points it out and gets me thinking. It’s not as though I’m not into exaggerating human features (I really shouldn’t have used the word “hate” in my initial post). I LOVE making crazy expressions, pushing the envelope and whatnot. It’s more that sometimes I haven’t done enough exploring, or just need to revisit a subject and look at it from a different angle.
But onto the link - Pete Emslie is awesome, and I’m ashamed to say I wouldn’t have thought to look at him! So, thanks for the suggestion.
